EBSCO Reinforces Commitment to Jharkhand’s Digital Future

Event Highlights Cybersecurity, Quality Research Access and Institutional Modernisation

Ranchi, December 4:
EBSCO Information Services organised the “EBSCO Day – Ranchi: Lunch & Learn Session” at Hotel Radisson Blu, highlighting the importance of secure and seamless digital access for Jharkhand’s academic and government institutions. The session was addressed by Shaji John, Senior Vice President, EBSCO, an experienced leader in global digital knowledge services.

Mr. John stated that institutions today must invest in reliable, cyber-secure platforms to support high-quality digital learning and research.

Strengthening Digital Access in Jharkhand

EBSCO presented its suite of advanced digital platforms that provide anytime, anywhere access to global scholarly content. With exclusive arrangements with over 1,600 international publishers, EBSCO enables universities, colleges, hospitals and research organisations to access credible, peer-reviewed resources.

The session highlighted the risks associated with IP-based access—proxy misuse, data leaks and cyber vulnerabilities.
As a solution, OpenAthens SSO was showcased as a secure, identity-based authentication system built on zero-trust principles.

Integrated Digital Knowledge Framework

EBSCO outlined a comprehensive digital knowledge ecosystem for Jharkhand featuring:

  • Global e-journals, e-books and research databases
  • Identity-based Single Sign-On
  • Cyber-secure authentication
  • Seamless access for all academic stakeholders
  • Centralised analytics for governance

This framework is designed to enhance academic quality, research output, healthcare decision-making and digital administration across the State.

Stakeholder Engagement and State Alignment

The session saw participation from several key institutions in the education and healthcare sectors.
Discussions focused on institutional library modernisation, secure research access, and supporting Jharkhand’s vision of a digitally empowered State.

EBSCO reiterated its long-term commitment to delivering secure, scalable and globally benchmarked digital solutions.

Amit Ranjan’s Commitment to His Home State

Amit Ranjan, who leads OpenAthens initiatives for South Asia and hails from Hazaribagh, emphasised his commitment to supporting Jharkhand’s digital transformation.

He highlighted EBSCO’s readiness to collaborate with:

  • JHARNet
  • Department of Higher Education
  • Department of Health
  • Department of IT & e-Governance

to establish a robust and secure digital learning ecosystem.

Amit stated:
“Jharkhand has tremendous potential. With secure digital access to global knowledge, we can enable every learner, researcher and educator to grow and excel.”
