Youth Seriously Injured After Being Hit by Hyva Truck; Angry Locals Demand Compensation and Proper Treatment

A 25-year-old youth was seriously injured in a road accident near Jamadoba Co-operative Colony under Jorapokhar police station area in Jharia on Sunday. Following the incident, local residents expressed strong anger and demanded immediate compensation and proper medical treatment for the victim.
How the Accident Happened
According to eyewitnesses, the victim, identified as Heera Pandit, was passing along the road when a speeding Hyva truck hit him. Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, from where he was referred to a larger medical facility due to his critical condition.
Locals Stop the Truck and Detain the Driver
Soon after the incident, angry villagers seized the Hyva truck and detained the driver, insisting that he would not be released until compensation and adequate medical support were ensured for the injured youth.
Police reached the spot, but due to strong opposition from the local residents, they were unable to take the driver into custody.
Driver Admits His Fault
The Hyva driver, Bhola Rawani, accepted responsibility for the incident, stating that the accident occurred while he was trying to avoid another vehicle on the road.
Family Demands Justice
The victim’s relative, Manoj Pandit, said:
“We will not allow the driver to leave until proper treatment and compensation are provided.”
Police officials have so far declined to comment on the matter.
