Himachal Pradesh/Shimla(H.S.):Thieves stole cash and silver ornaments from an ancient Mata Mandir in village Bageshwar under Deha police station area of Shimla district. The incident has caused great anger among the people of the area. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
Complainant Ramesh Chand son of late Mata Ram resident Dhamandar, Post Office Bharouli, Tehsil Rajgarh, District Sirmaur told in the complaint given to the police that on the morning of 12th September at around 8 am he had reached the temple to offer prayers. After offering prayers, he closed the temple at 9 am and returned to his home.
According to the complaint, when he reached the temple again on 13th September at around 6 am, he saw that the latch of the main door of the temple was broken. When he went inside, he found that the door of the temple was half open and the lock of the donation box was broken.
Cash was missing from the donation box kept inside the temple. Along with this, a silver stick with a gold egg embedded in it, four small silver idols and a silver necklace studded with 11 silver coins were also stolen from the temple. The total cost of the stolen items is estimated to be around 90 thousand rupees.
On the basis of the complaint, Police Station Deha has registered a case under Section 331(4), 305 of the Indian Penal Code. The police team reached the spot and took stock of the situation and collected evidence.
The local people are deeply angry with this theft from the temple. The villagers say that the thieves have targeted the donations and ornaments offered in the temple with faith and devotion. People have demanded from the police administration that the thieves should be caught as soon as possible and the stolen items should be recovered.
On the other hand, a police officer said on Sunday that the matter is being thoroughly investigated and efforts are on to nab the thieves.
