Haridwar-Dehradun rail route blocked due to debris falling from Mansa Devi hill, many trains cancelled

Uttarakhand/Haridwar: Due to heavy rains, rail traffic has been blocked on Monday morning due to a sudden heavy amount of debris falling from Mansa Devi hill on the railway track near Bhimgoda Kali temple. Trains have been cancelled due to the obstruction of the rail track.

Haridwar Railway Station Superintendent Dinesh Kumar said that the railway track near Bhimgoda railway tunnel was completely closed due to debris of soil and rocks on Monday morning. Due to obstruction on the track, many trains had to be postponed and many had to be terminated at Jwalapur station. These include many trains including Rishikesh-Kochiwali Express, Howrah-Rishikesh Express, Amritsar-Dehradun Express and Rishikesh-Haridwar Passenger. He said that due to the debris, the movement of trains on Dehradun-Haridwar and Rishikesh rail route has been affected. The team of the railway department is busy in removing the debris.

This landslide near the Kali temple partially affected the temple and the small Shiv temple outside the temple was damaged, but the cave temple was not damaged. Rail traffic has been disrupted many times before due to debris at this place. Keeping in mind the previous incidents, the railway has installed iron nets at this place, due to which the debris did not come on the road.
