Made aware of the latest agricultural and animal husbandry techniques: Birsa Agricultural University

 

Ranchi. Under the Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, Birsa Agricultural University is running a comprehensive campaign to make the farmers of the state aware of the latest agricultural and animal husbandry techniques and to make them aware of the farmer welfare schemes of the Jharkhand Government and the Central Government.

      BAU Vice Chancellor Dr. SC Dubey said that this campaign, which started on 29 May, will run till 12 June. He said that under the leadership of Krishi Vigyan Kendras located in 16 districts of the state under the control of BAU, direct communication was established with 63,207 farmers in 646 villages of these districts from 29 May to 3 June. Under the campaign, detailed information was given on advanced techniques of cultivation of Kharif season's main crops paddy, maize, coarse grains (Shri Anna), tur, urad, moong, soybean, groundnut, sesame, sarguja, importance of soil testing and use of nutrients based on soil testing, crop protection measures, advanced agricultural techniques of fruits and vegetables, care of animals and birds in summer and rainy season, nutrition, management and disease solution etc.

   Similarly, detailed technical and practical information was also given on natural and organic farming, coarse grain cultivation, conservation of indigenous varieties and methods of farmers, processing and value addition of agricultural products.

     Apart from this, detailed information was given on agriculture related schemes of Central and Jharkhand Government like - Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, Traditional Agriculture Development Scheme, Agricultural Mechanization Sub-Mission, Sub Mission on Agricultural Extension, Kisan Credit Card, Millet Mission Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana, National Food Security Mission, Jharkhand Kisan Samridhi Yojana, Birsa Seed Production and Fruit Extension Scheme, Jharkhand Agricultural Loan Waiver Scheme and farmers were called upon to join these schemes and avail benefits.

     Vice Chancellor Dr. Dubey informed that under the campaign, 36 teams have been formed in 16 districts, which include 56 scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Birsa Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, 24 scientists from university headquarters, colleges and regional research centers, 29 scientists from various institutes of Indian Council of Agricultural Research located in Jharkhand and 78 district and block level officers of the state government's agriculture department and related departments. Each team is organizing programs in three villages every day. At the university level, Director Extension Education Dr. Rekha Sinha and Nodal Officer Dr. BK Agarwal are monitoring the progress of this campaign every day. This campaign will run till June 12.
