Bilaspur: A grand program was organized at the Basic Tasar Silkworm Seed Organization, Bilaspur office. The program was presided over by the Director of the organization, Dr. T. Selvakumar, while Satyadev Sharma, IFS and Divisional Manager, Chhattisgarh State Forest Development Corporation, Limited, Bilaspur was present as the chief guest.
Starting the inaugural session of the program, Director Dr. T. Selvakumar in his address underlined the deep connection between tassar silkworm rearing and the environment. He said that tassar silk production not only empowers the rural economy, but also plays an important role in maintaining biodiversity and environmental balance. Dr. Selvakumar called upon all the attendees to take small steps for environmental protection.
Chief Guest Satyadev Sharma, IFS and Divisional Manager, Chhattisgarh State Forest Development Corporation, Limited, Bilaspur, in his inspirational address, discussed in detail the problem of environmental imbalance and its solution. Along with government schemes, he also stressed on the personal responsibility of every citizen. Mr. Sharma said that if we all make efforts together, a big change can be brought about in the direction of environmental protection.
On this occasion, a plantation drive was carried out in the office premises, in which officers and employees participated enthusiastically. Everyone was also administered the oath of environmental protection, which deepened their sense of responsibility towards nature. On the said occasion, Dr. J.P. Pandey, Scientist-D, while explaining the activities of the organization office, said that tassar silkworm rearing is helpful in balancing the environment. After this, the chief guest Mr. Sharma also observed the silkworm seed production related activities conducted in the organization office. Officers and employees of Basic Tasar Silkworm Seed Organization, Basic Seed Multiplication and Training Center and Silk Technical Service Center participated in the program.
Dr. Hassanab Nadaf, Scientist-D expressed gratitude to all the officers and employees and Mr. P.S. Lodhi, Senior Translator conducted the stage. Apart from this, World Environment Day was also organised in various subordinate units of the organization office and tree plantation was done.
