Ranchi, Jharkhand, October 6, 2026: Special digitisation camps will be organised at all polling stations across Jharkhand on October 7, 8 and 9 to facilitate the inclusion of eligible citizens’ names in the voter list under SIR-2026. Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has directed all District Election Officers, EROs and AEROs to ensure effective implementation of the camps.
Eligible citizens who have not yet been enrolled in the voter list can submit Form 6 at the special camps. The Chief Electoral Officer directed officials to speed up the digitisation of Forms 6, 7 and 8 received by BLOs and ensure their timely processing.
District Election Officers have also been asked to share information about the camps with representatives of recognised political parties and encourage eligible citizens who have been left out of the voter list to participate. Wide publicity through social media and local channels has also been directed.
K. Ravi Kumar said that logical discrepancies appearing against a person’s name in the voter list may arise due to incorrect information in the enumeration form, wrong mapping during an earlier SIR or errors in previously recorded information. He clarified that the current hearing process is aimed at making the present SIR voter list error-free and ensuring the enrolment of all eligible Indian citizens.
For enrolment, officials will verify that the applicant is an Indian citizen, has completed 18 years of age as on October 1, 2026, and is an ordinary resident of the concerned polling station area.
A Mega Helpdesk along with a meeting of BLOs and BLAs-2 will also be organised at all polling stations across the state on October 10. Citizens will receive assistance regarding notice hearings, claims and objections, inclusion of names in the voter list and other related procedures.
The Chief Electoral Officer has further directed officials to conduct special outreach programmes for eligible citizens belonging to tribal communities, backward classes, persons with disabilities, elderly voters, transgender persons, sex workers and other vulnerable groups, so that they can be identified and assisted with the required procedures and documents.
K. Ravi Kumar emphasised that no eligible Indian citizen should be left out of the electoral roll.
