Ranchi, September 14: A charge-taking and felicitation ceremony for newly appointed BJP Kisan Morcha State President Arjun Singh was held at the BJP state office in Ranchi on Monday. Arjun Singh formally assumed charge as the state president of the Kisan Morcha during the programme.

The programme began with floral tributes to the statues of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.

Addressing the gathering, BJP State Vice-President Balmukund Sahay congratulated Arjun Singh and expressed confidence that the Kisan Morcha would become stronger and more effective under his leadership.

He said, “India can become developed only when its farmers become developed, and the country can become self-reliant only when its farmers become self-reliant.” He urged Kisan Morcha workers to work as advocates of the party and effectively communicate the party’s position to the people.

Referring to the evolution of the slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” Sahay said that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee added “Jai Vigyan,” while Prime Minister Narendra Modi expanded it to “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan and Jai Anusandhan.” He stressed the importance of scientific research for modern agriculture, improved farming practices and higher crop yields.

Sahay urged the new state president to work with the 2029 Assembly elections as the target, organise farmers across the state and lead struggles for their basic needs and rights.

Kisan Morcha to Intensify Agitation on Farmers’ Issues

Newly appointed State President Arjun Singh said the BJP Kisan Morcha has consistently raised its voice for the rights and interests of farmers. Expressing gratitude to the party for placing its trust in him, he said he would make every effort to live up to the responsibility.

He said, “Farmers have no caste. Every citizen of this country is a farmer.” He added that the Kisan Morcha would reach every booth from the state level and that strengthening the organisation further would be his top priority.

Arjun Singh also criticised the Hemant Soren-led state government over what he described as unfulfilled election promises. He alleged that the government had promised cheaper urea and a higher procurement price for paddy, but farmers were not receiving the promised benefits.

He announced that the Kisan Morcha would intensify its agitation against the state government over the alleged failure to fulfil its commitments to farmers.

BJP Leaders Express Confidence in New Leadership

BJP State General Secretary Ganesh Mishra said Arjun Singh would build a strong organisation on the foundation already created by the Kisan Morcha. He urged workers to ensure that farmers across Jharkhand are made aware of the various central government schemes launched for their welfare.

State General Secretary Amar Kumar Bauri described Arjun Singh as an experienced organisational leader and expressed confidence that he would take appropriate decisions to strengthen the Kisan Morcha. He said farmers play a crucial role in the country’s economy and that the Morcha would strongly raise its voice against what he termed an anti-farmer state government.

State General Secretary Manoj Singh congratulated Arjun Singh and said his experience of working from the district to the mandal level would help strengthen the organisation. He expressed hope that the new leadership would build an effective organisation to work for farmers and help secure basic facilities for them.

Outgoing Kisan Morcha State President Pawan Sahu said the Kisan Morcha is an important organisational wing of the party. He stressed the need to strengthen the organisation up to the panchayat level and work towards resolving farmers’ problems.

The programme was conducted by Vikrant Upadhyay, while Ajay Munda delivered the vote of thanks.

State leaders and party functionaries present at the programme included Balmukund Sahay, Ganesh Mishra, Amar Kumar Bauri, Manoj Singh, Amardeep Yadav, Bajrangi Prasad Yadav, outgoing state president Pawan Sahu, national working committee member Ashok Singh, Rajesh Kushwaha, Rishikesh Rana, Rajiv Shahdeo and Binod Thakur, besides a large number of BJP and Kisan Morcha workers.
