Washim, September 24, 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday visited several areas of Washim district to assess the drought-like situation and review the condition of crops and water availability.
The Chief Minister visited Mhasala in Karanja taluka, Mahagwahan in Mangrulpir taluka, and Jaulka in Malegaon taluka, where he inspected farms and assessed crop damage caused by inadequate rainfall.
CM Fadnavis Meets Farmers, Assures Government Support
At Mhasala, Chief Minister Fadnavis visited the farm of farmer Devidas Kishan Kale and inspected damaged soybean and tur crops. He also interacted with farmers and listened to their concerns.
He later visited the farms of Anil Bhagare and Abdul Naeem Sheikh Rahim at Mahagwahan in Mangrulpir taluka. Farmers informed him about the severe damage caused to soybean, tur and other crops due to insufficient rainfall.
Fadnavis said that the situation was a serious challenge for farmers but assured them that the government stands with them and will provide all possible assistance.
Compensation Assurance Reiterated
During the visit, the Chief Minister reiterated his announcement regarding compensation for affected farmers. He said that necessary assistance would be provided on priority after assessment of the crop losses. He also indicated that a notification regarding the relief measures would be issued soon.
Water and Fodder Arrangements to Be Reviewed
At Jaulka in Malegaon taluka, Fadnavis visited a farm dam and reviewed the water situation. He interacted with farmers and took detailed information about the challenges being faced due to inadequate rainfall.
The Chief Minister said that necessary planning would be undertaken to prevent drinking water shortages in the coming days. Arrangements would also be made to ensure the availability of fodder for livestock.
He assured farmers that the government would take prompt action to provide direct assistance to those affected by the crisis.
MPs Sanjay Deshmukh and Anup Dhotre, MLAs Babusingh Maharaj, Sai Dahake, Shyam Khode, Randhir Sawarkar and Bhavana Gawali, District Collector Yogesh Kumbhejkar, Chief Executive Officer Arpit Chavan, senior administrative officials, public representatives and farmers were present during the Chief Minister's visit.
