Mumbai, September 26, 2026: Mumbai’s Girgaon Chowpatty witnessed a grand Ganesh Visarjan ceremony on Anant Chaturdashi, with international tourists from 23 countries joining the celebrations and experiencing Maharashtra’s culture and traditions.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Ganeshotsav is an important part of Maharashtra’s cultural identity and expressed happiness over the enthusiastic participation of foreign tourists.
CM Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the special pavilion set up by the Maharashtra Tourism Department with the support of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
Foreign tourists from different countries participated in the Ganpati Aarti and witnessed the grand immersion procession. Tourists from Thailand were also seen taking part in the Aarti and joining the chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya.”
The visitors enjoyed the traditional Maharashtrian attire, dhol-tasha performances and festive atmosphere. Many tourists also clicked photographs with Ganesh idols and captured the memorable moments.
Italian tourist Marco said that witnessing the festival for the first time was an unforgettable experience. He described the celebration as a combination of faith, unity and joy.
Finnish tourist Johanna Suni praised the traditional music, colourful atmosphere and warm hospitality of the people of Maharashtra. She said the experience gave her an opportunity to understand the richness of Maharashtrian culture.
Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai said that the participation of international tourists in Ganeshotsav would help showcase Maharashtra’s cultural heritage to the world and further promote tourism in the state.
Tourism Director Vikas Pansare said that the special pavilion allowed foreign visitors to watch the immersion procession closely and experience the true spirit of Ganeshotsav.
The Ganesh Visarjan celebration at Girgaon Chowpatty became a memorable meeting point of faith, culture, tradition and international tourism.
