Ranchi-Tata Highway Echoes with Screams of "Brother, Help... Mom, Help...": Youths in Scorpio Terrifyingly Chase Young Women's Car, Smash Window with Stones

A harrowing ordeal unfolded on the highway for nearly 30 minutes following a minor collision; questions raised despite pleas for help via Dial-100; police swing into action after video goes viral, Scorpio seized.

Ranchi: A road rage incident near the Sun Temple on the Ranchi-Tata National Highway (NH) has sent shockwaves through the area. A dispute triggered by a minor collision escalated to the point where youths in a Scorpio chased a car occupied by three young women for several kilometers. An atmosphere of fear and panic prevailed on the highway for about half an hour.

The women inside the car were so terrified that their screams can be heard in the viral video. Distraught, they kept shouting, "Brother, help... Mom, help..." The surfacing of the video has sparked questions regarding women's safety and patrolling arrangements on the highway.

According to reports, a speeding black Scorpio (JH-01-GH-4141) coming from the direction of Bundu grazed the car of the young women, who were traveling from Jamshedpur to Hazaribagh. Following the collision, the car's driver asked the youths in the Scorpio to drive carefully, which escalated the dispute.

It is alleged that the youths in the Scorpio became enraged and began chasing the women's car. Despite the women apologizing and attempting to de-escalate the situation, the accused persisted, continuing the chase for nearly 30 minutes over several kilometers.

The driver attempted to escape to safety, but the accused kept pursuing them. Eventually, near the Dasham Falls police station area, the occupants of the Scorpio overtook and intercepted the car, then attacked it by pelting stones. During the attack, the driver-side window of the car was shattered, and the driver, Ranveer Singh, sustained injuries. The young women inside the car were terrified by the sudden assault. A crowd began to gather, prompting the accused to flee the scene.

Call for help via Dial-100; allegations of police delay

Panicked by the incident, the young women called Dial-100 to alert the police. Reports indicate the call was made around 12:33 PM, but the police team arrived at the scene approximately 20 to 25 minutes later. By then, the attackers had already left.

Police stated that a team was dispatched immediately upon receiving the information, but the delay occurred because the incident site was located in an interior area off the highway.

Police swing into action following viral video

The police took action after a video of the incident went viral on social media. Based on the viral footage, the police seized a black Scorpio vehicle.

The youths involved have been identified as Rajkumar Mahto and Shoaib Raza; both were questioned at the Dasham Fall Police Station.

Ranchi Rural SP Gaurav Goswami stated that the entire matter is under investigation. Action will be taken in accordance with the law against those who take the law into their own hands.

Transport Minister Deepak Birua takes cognizance

Taking the incident seriously, Transport Minister Deepak Birua instructed officials to conduct an investigation and take necessary action. He emphasized that no one would be allowed to act arbitrarily on the roads and that passenger safety remains the top priority.

Babulal Marandi raises questions about highway safety

Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi expressed concern over the incident and demanded a strengthening of the highway patrolling system. He remarked that such incidents raise serious questions about security arrangements and create an atmosphere of fear among travelers.

Talk of a settlement; investigation continues

Following the incident, there has been talk of a settlement between the two parties regarding the damage to the vehicle. However, given the viral nature of the video and the gravity of the matter, the police are continuing their investigation. This incident has once again raised serious questions regarding women's safety, road rage, and the police patrolling system on the Ranchi-Tata Highway. Local residents have demanded effective round-the-clock patrolling and strict action on the highway.
