Deliberations on Baseline Survey and District Action Plan under MRMA 2.0 in Sitapur

A meeting of officials was held in Sitapur to discuss the baseline survey and the formulation of a district action plan, aimed at accelerating the development of the silk sector under the MRMA 2.0 ('Mera Resham Mera Abhiman' – My Silk, My Pride) campaign, which is being implemented by the Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
During the meeting, Dr. Jai Prakash Pandey, Scientist-D at the Basic Tasar Silkworm Seed Organization (BTSSO), Bilaspur, held detailed discussions with officials from the Directorate of Sericulture, Uttar Pradesh, on formulating an effective district action plan tailored to the district's specific needs.
Prior to this, a team of officials visited various silk-producing areas in Sitapur and interacted with silk farmers and stakeholders. Through the baseline survey, an assessment was conducted regarding the current status of silk production, available resources, development potential, and key challenges.
The meeting placed special emphasis on increasing silk production, ensuring the availability of quality seeds and planting material, disseminating modern technologies, capacity building, providing technical guidance, and boosting the income of silk farmers.
Dr. Jai Prakash Pandey stated that the objective of MRMA 2.0 is to formulate an action plan based on actual ground-level needs, thereby increasing the income of silk farmers and giving a new direction to silk development in the district. The officials also expressed their commitment to making the campaign a success through better coordination and technical collaboration.
