Chamber Takes Firm Stand on Bazar Tand Rent Dispute; Demands Stay on Corporation's Actions
Ranchi, March 30, 2026: During a meeting of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries, strong objection was raised regarding the Ranchi Municipal Corporation's actions concerning the Bazar Tand rent dispute. Chamber office-bearers stated that unilateral punitive measures—taken without providing an opportunity for a hearing—are creating an atmosphere of fear and confusion among traders. They pointed out that while the Urban Development Department had previously given assurances to halt such actions and constitute a joint committee, the Corporation continues to exert pressure regardless. The Chamber has written to the Mayor, the Urban Development Secretary, and the Municipal Commissioner, demanding a stay on all punitive measures until the said committee is constituted.
