Babulal Marandi Urges Governor's Intervention in ₹750 Crore Liquor Scam
Ranchi: Babulal Marandi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, has written to Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, seeking his immediate intervention in the alleged liquor scam amounting to over ₹750 crore. He has accused the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of deliberately failing to file the chargesheet in a timely manner in order to shield the accused. Marandi stated that amendments to the 2022 Excise Policy resulted in massive revenue losses for the state, and several accused individuals subsequently secured 'default bail.' He further alleged that the ACB's conduct is suspect and that one of the accused absconded following his arrest. Marandi has urged the Governor to direct the ACB to file the chargesheet expeditiously and to recommend that the investigation into the entire matter be handed over to the CBI.
