Ranchi: The National Lok Adalat was organized under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ranchi, on December 13, 2025. The virtual inauguration was conducted by Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court, from the Dumka Judicial Division through an online platform.
On the occasion, Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Executive Chairman of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Justice Ananda Sen, and Justice Pradeep Kumar Srivastava were present. Member Secretary of JHALSA Ranjana Asthana and other dignitaries also attended the programme.
Following the inauguration of the National Lok Adalat, a free cancer preventive check-up camp was inaugurated at the Civil Court, Ranchi, by Anil Kumar Mishra-1, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Ranchi. The programme was attended by Principal Judge, Family Court Pawan Kumar, AJC-15 Amit Shekhar, AJC-2 Yashwant Prakash, other Additional Judicial Commissioners, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, DLSA Secretary Ravi Kumar Bhaskar, members of the Ranchi District Bar Association, advocates, LADCS members, staff, PLVs, and others.
Addressing the gathering, Anil Kumar Mishra said that advocates and mediators play a crucial role in the speedy disposal of cases. He stated that the National Lok Adalat is an effective platform for litigants to obtain accessible and free justice.
Under the free cancer preventive check-up camp, free medical examinations were provided to litigants, advocates, mediators, court staff, and their family members. Around 70 people availed themselves of free health check-ups. The medical team included Dr. Garima, Dr. Shikha, Dr. Janki, Abhishek Kumar, Bhanu Kumar Singh, Bhupendra Kumar Singh, Pratibha Tigga, Pratima Gadi, Shilpa Sangma, and Mukul Kumar Ghosh.
DLSA Secretary Ravi Kumar Bhaskar informed that for the successful conduct of the National Lok Adalat, 39 benches of judicial magistrates and 18 benches of executive magistrates were constituted. Prior coordination meetings were held with judicial officers, representatives of banks and insurance companies, the police administration, and the district administration to ensure maximum disposal of cases.
During the programme, officials of the District Legal Services Authority also inspected various stalls set up in the Civil Court premises, Ranchi.
Under the Jharkhand Victim Compensation (Amendment) Scheme, 2019, compensation cheques amounting to Rs 16,35,000 were distributed among nine victims. In motor accident compensation cases, cheques totaling Rs 4,19,24,118 were distributed among six victims.
In the National Lok Adalat held on the same day, a total of 42,083 pending cases and 6.5 lac pre-litigation cases were disposed of, with settlements amounting to Rs 2,07,32,02,797.
