📰Lohardaga DC Dr. Tarachand Instructs: Farmers Must Sell Paddy at ₹24.50/kg, Mukhiyas to Ensure Institutional Deliveries and 100% School Attendance

Lohardaga: According to Press Release No. 723, dated 22.12.2025, issued by the District Public Relations Office, Lohardaga, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tarachand held a direct dialogue with all village heads (Mukhiyas) of the district via video conferencing during the 19th edition of the scheduled program, 'Panchayat Kar Goith,' and issued several important directives.

No Tolerance for Irregularities in Paddy Procurement

In a firm directive benefiting farmers, DC Dr. Tarachand stated that farmers must not sell their paddy to middlemen at low prices. They should only sell their paddy at the nearby government procurement centers at the rate fixed by the government, ₹24.50 per kg. He made it clear that if any irregularities are found in the paddy procurement and sale process, the district administration will take swift and lawful action. He also informed that payment to farmers against paddy procurement has already commenced in the district.

Special Focus on Rabi Crops and Crop Insurance

The Deputy Commissioner urged all Mukhiyas to motivate farmers in their respective areas to cultivate Rabi crops (potatoes, chickpeas, mustard, peas, wheat). He emphasized that these crops will strengthen the financial condition of the farmers and their continuous engagement in agriculture throughout the year will check migration. He instructed all farmers to compulsorily insure their crops under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana by December 31, 2025. In case of any natural calamity, farmers can register their claim by calling 14447 within 72 hours.

Education: Goal of 100% Attendance in Schools

Highlighting the importance of education, the DC asked the Mukhiyas to ensure 100% attendance of children in the schools within their jurisdictions. Mukhiyas should regularly meet with parents to motivate them to send their children to school and raise awareness about the value of education. He appealed to them, as people's representatives, to create a favorable environment by meeting with students and parents regarding preparations for the upcoming 10th and 12th-grade examinations to ensure good marks.

Health: Institutional Deliveries and Ayushman Card

Focusing on health services, the DC directed that necessary assistance be provided to identify and care for needy pregnant women in rural areas, ensuring their proper health facility and nutrition. He stressed the need to help them ensure institutional deliveries at all costs. He mentioned that all necessary facilities are available at the Community Health Centers in the district. Furthermore, needy people can avail free treatment under the Ayushman Card scheme at designated hospitals.

Social Evils: Resolving to Eradicate Child Marriage and Witchcraft

Dr. Tarachand called upon all Mukhiyas to resolve to make the district free from child marriage and the practice of witchcraft through coordinated efforts. He instructed Mukhiyas to keep a close watch on marriage ceremonies in their areas and, upon finding cases of witchcraft, to immediately inform the district administration while raising awareness at their level.

The Deputy Commissioner also spoke individually with the Mukhiyas of Barkichampi, Aru, Sirm Bhitha, and Pandara Panchayats, taking note of their local problems and assuring them of a quick resolution. Present on the occasion were Project Director ITDA Sushma Neelam Soren, Additional Collector Jitendra Munda, District Panchayati Raj Officer Anjana Das, along with other district-level officers, Block Development Officers, and Circle Officers connected via video conferencing.
