Water conservation programme held at Umri village on Jharkhand’s Silver Jubilee
One-day event organised under PMKSY – WDC 2.0 at the banks of Amrit Sarovar

On the special occasion of Jharkhand’s Silver Jubilee, a one-day programme was organised under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana – WDC 2.0 at the Amrit Sarovar of beneficiary Krusdahari in Umri village of Kolshimri Panchayat, Lohardaga district. The event was conducted under the aegis of the Jharkhand State Watershed Mission by the District Agriculture Office, Lohardaga and WCDC Lohardaga.

The programme was attended by the Deputy Development Commissioner of Lohardaga, Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat, as the chief guest.
Block Development Officer, Kairo, Chhanda Bhattacharjee; Block Development Officer, Kudu, Santosh Oraon; State Representative Anubhav Dubraj; District Agriculture Officer Kalene Khalkho; Kolshimri Panchayat Mukhiya Sukhmani Oraon; Village Heads Sukher Oraon and Gaji Oraon were also present.
Also in attendance were the brother of Kargil martyr late Vishram Tana Bhagat, Shri Vishwanath Tana Bhagat; District Technical Expert Prince Kumar; members of seven watershed committees; the WDT team; and villagers from Umri and Kairo.
Programme began with Kalash Yatra and Prabhat Pheri
The event started with a Kalash Yatra led by village women. Water from the MGNREGA pond was carried in Kalash and ceremoniously offered to the Amrit Sarovar.
School children organised a Prabhat Pheri/rally displaying slogans on saving water, soil, forests and the environment.
Oath for water conservation and cultural activities
The chief guest administered an oath on water conservation to all participants.
A watershed song was sung collectively by the District Technical Expert, WCDC Lohardaga, along with villagers.
Students participated enthusiastically in the Rangoli competition held at the Amrit Sarovar site. All participating children were awarded by the chief guest and officials.
Awareness message, felicitation and plantation
The chief guest spoke to villagers about the history and pride of Jharkhand and urged them to protect water, forests and the environment while enhancing livelihoods through limited resources.
Beneficiary Krusdahari and Shri Vishwanath Tana Bhagat, brother of Kargil martyr late Vishram Tana Bhagat, were felicitated with an angavastram.
Dignitaries planted saplings of timber species along the banks of the Amrit Sarovar.
Conclusion of the programme
Refreshments were arranged for all participants.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by WDT Social Expert Anita Devi.
