FULL STORY
A growing dispute has emerged over the ongoing construction of ramps for the NH-33 Elevated Corridor. On Tuesday, former BJP leader Vikas Singh raised serious objections to the project's design, claiming that the current plan could cause massive financial losses to hundreds of families living and working along the stretch.

According to Vikas Singh, the plan includes six ramps on both sides of the highway between Pardih and Dimna Chowk — a distance of barely three kilometers. Singh stated that he was shocked after reviewing the maps shared by departmental officials. The proposed ramps, he said, will narrow the road in front of several residential and commercial establishments, directly affecting daily movement and business operations.

He pointed out that ramp construction has already begun at three key locations — near Sahay Clinic, near Repeat Colony, and before Baliguma. With ramps being constructed on both sides of the highway, a total of six ramps spanning approximately 500 meters each will be built. Singh warned that once the ramps are completed, shop owners will not even be able to park vehicles in front of their establishments, raising concerns of business shutdowns.

Singh claimed that this project could cause property-related losses worth crores of rupees. Errors in the layout plan and the failure to consider ground realities, he said, could push many families into severe financial distress. He has urged East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi to intervene immediately.

He suggested following the model adopted in other cities — constructing only one ramp at Pardih and another beyond Dimna Chowk — to save people from large-scale losses. Additionally, Singh demanded that NHAI make the detailed design of the elevated corridor public, so affected residents can understand the real impact and protect their interests.
