Seminar organized by BJP Ramgarh District at Radha Govind University on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Tribal Pride Day
Aditya Sahu: “The dreams of Bhagwan Birsa Munda will be fulfilled when the BJP forms the government in Jharkhand.”
The chief guest of the event was Aditya Sahu, Working President of BJP Jharkhand. Special guests included State Vice President Vikas Preetam and State Spokesperson Avinesh Singh. The program was conducted by District General Secretary Vijay Jaiswal, while the vote of thanks was given by Sanjay Sahu.
At the university entrance, BJP officials welcomed the guests with traditional scarves. The Chancellor of Radha Govind University, B. N. Sahu, along with Priyanka Kumari, Dr. Rashmi, Dr. Nirmal Kumar Mandal, Dr. Ashok Kumar, and Prof. Sanjay Singh, also greeted the distinguished guests. Students welcomed them warmly with tilak, flower showers, and a salute from the scout team accompanied by band music. The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp and garlanding of the portraits of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Aditya Sahu said that Bhagwan Birsa Munda, born on the soil of Jharkhand, is a source of pride and inspiration for all. He stated that prior to 2014, the Congress governments never gave Birsa Munda due respect. When Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014, he visited Ulihatu, the birthplace of Birsa Munda, bowed down with the soil of his courtyard, and initiated development works including roads, electricity, water facilities, beautification, and construction of a grand statue. The tribal ministry at the national level was also established during this period.
He added that it is due to the efforts of Prime Minister Modi that Tribal Pride Day is being celebrated across the country today. The BJP takes pride in the fact that India’s highest constitutional office, the President of India, is currently held by a tribal woman, Draupadi Murmu. He also highlighted that the creation of the Jharkhand state was made possible under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, fulfilling long-standing aspirations of the people.
He further said that the BJP has focused heavily on tribal education by establishing Eklavya Model Schools, which have now increased from 224 to more than 724. The budget for tribal welfare has also risen from 24,000 crore rupees to 1,24,000 crore rupees under the Modi government. Several Padma awards have also been given to artists and icons from Jharkhand.
Sahu criticized previous Congress and RJD governments for obstructing the formation of Jharkhand state and alleged that the current state government is hindering Jharkhand’s development. He expressed concern over religious conversion attempts aimed at erasing tribal identity and stated that true development of tribals would be possible only when the BJP forms the government in Jharkhand.
Special Guest Vikas Preetam stated that Bhagwan Birsa Munda remains a divine figure for all, and it was under Atal Bihari Vajpayee that the long-pending demand for the formation of a separate Jharkhand state was fulfilled on Birsa Munda Jayanti, 15 November 2000. He emphasized that the dreams of Birsa Munda will be fully realized once the BJP returns to power in Jharkhand.
