Jharkhand/Ranchi: Ajay Rai, president of the Jharkhand Parents Association, has stated that various private schools in the state are charging substantial sums of money in the name of registration as soon as the admission process begins for elementary classes (nursery to first grade). This is not only against the spirit of the Right to Education Act but also constitutes financial exploitation of parents. In a press release issued on Wednesday, he said that education is becoming a means of business rather than a service, which is extremely unfortunate. He demanded that the state government strictly monitor such schools and set a limit on registration fees to maintain transparency.
