Jharkhand/West Singhbhum: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has made a serious allegation against the BJP of conspiring to destroy the Saranda forest for mineral extraction, similar to the Hasdeo forest in Chhattisgarh. The JMM stated that Chief Minister Hemant Soren's government will not allow this intention to succeed under any circumstances and will present the public's opinion before the hearing in the Supreme Court, Delhi, on October 8.
On Wednesday, JMM district spokesperson Budhram Laguri stated in a press release that the BJP is attempting to drive out the tribals through a "backdoor conspiracy." He termed the statements of BJP state spokesperson and former MP Geeta Koda as baseless and misleading, saying that an attempt is being made to mislead the public. Meanwhile, the Hemant government is respecting democratic dignity and the judiciary and organizing public hearings.
Five ministers and several public representatives were present at the public hearing in Chhota Nagara solely to listen to public concerns and submit reports to the court. No action was taken to harass the tribals. JMM District President Sonaram Devgam stated that the BJP is attempting to mislead the public by spreading lies regarding the Saranda Wildlife Sanctuary.
He stated that the ministerial group will visit Roam on October 2nd and Dimbuli on October 4th to directly interact with the people there. He also stated that the government's primary objective is to conserve the Saranda forests and protect the social, economic, religious, and cultural interests of the tribals living there.
Sonaram Devgam assured that the public will win in the Supreme Court on October 8th, and that the JMM is striving to ensure the conservation of the forests and the protection of tribal rights. The state government is fully committed to this matter and will ensure that the public's voice reaches the court.
