Jharkhand/East Singhbhum: An old dispute took a violent turn in Shyamsundarpur, a rural area of East Singhbhum district. A youth injured by sticks during a fight in the village died during treatment. After the incident, the police took immediate action and arrested two people on charges of murder.
The incident took place around 9.30 pm on the night of September 11. Neighbors Chaitan Murmu and Sukul Murmu had reached the house of Lakhan Murmu, a resident of Virbhanga village. During this time, an argument started between the three over something. When the dispute escalated, Chaitan and Sukul attacked Lakhan with bamboo and sticks. Seriously injured Lakhan was admitted to the hospital, but he died late on the night of September 13 during treatment.
As soon as the news of Lakhan's death was received, anger spread in the village. The police took immediate action and arrested both the accused and also recovered the bamboo and stick used in the incident. A case of murder has been registered against Chaitan and Sukul on the statement of the deceased's wife Chapi Murmu.
At present, the police have sent both the accused to judicial custody. At the same time, there is an atmosphere of tension in the area after the incident and the villagers are demanding strict action against the culprits.
