Jharkhand/West Singhbhum: A tribute meeting was organized on Saturday on the occasion of 27th death anniversary of Kargil war's brave martyr (Balidan) Ram Bhagwan Kerketta. This program was organized at the Balidan statue site located at Post Office Chowk in Chaibasa under the aegis of Adivasi Oraon Samaj Sangh.
The program started with garlanding the statue of Balidan Ram Bhagwan Kerketta. After this, two minutes of silence was observed and prayers were offered for the peace of the soul of the martyr.
On this occasion, Oraon Samaj Sangh President Sanchu Tirkey said, it is a matter of pride for our community that Balidan Ram Bhagwan Kerketta sacrificed his life in the service of the country. It is a matter of sadness for us that today he is not among us, but his sacrifice cannot be forgotten.
The martyr's daughters Sunita Kerketta and Gayatri Kerketta also shared their thoughts in the tribute meeting. They said, we are proud of Papa. He was a true patriot. No one can fill his void, but his sacrifice will always be an inspiration. They also told that currently his elder brother Prakash Kerketta is posted at the same place where his father was on duty.
Hundreds of people from the community, including the women's committee of the tribal Oraon society, were present in the program. Everyone unanimously paid tribute to the martyr and remembered his unique contribution.
