New Delhi (H.S).: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has recovered three hand grenades and a pistol during the investigation of the Thakurdwara Sanatan Mandir grenade attack in Amritsar.
According to the NIA, three grenades were recovered from village Bhamdi of Batala in Gurdaspur district of Punjab on the information of accused Sharanjit Kumar alias Sunny. At the same time, the investigators also seized a 30 bore pistol, which was given to Sharanjit by his handlers sitting abroad. Technical and forensic investigation of the recovered weapons and explosives is being done.
Sharanjit was arrested by the NIA from Gaya in Bihar last Friday. During interrogation, it was found that he was actively involved in the conspiracy of the attack on the temple. The attack was carried out by bike riders Gursidak Singh and Vishal Gill, who were getting instructions from foreign handlers.
Investigation has revealed that Sharanjit had acquired four grenades on March 1. One of these grenades was handed over to the attacker on March 13, after which the attack took place on March 15, 2025.
NIA's investigation so far has revealed that terrorist handlers sitting in Europe, America and Canada were behind this attack. They used to provide weapons, money, logistical support and information about targets to their associates present in India.
