Angry villagers block road after death in road accident

Jharkhand/Palamu: Villagers blocked the road near the canal turn on the Jalpa-Chhatarpur main road in Hussainabad district on Tuesday morning. The blockade was in protest against the tragic accident that occurred late Monday evening, in which 25-year-old Mukesh Kumar of Dandila village lost his life after being hit by a pickup van. Long queues of vehicles remained on the road for about an hour and a half, and mourning villagers remained adamant on their demand for justice and compensation. The blockade was finally cleared after administrative intervention. Hussainabad Zonal Officer Pankaj Kumar, who arrived at the scene, handed a check of 20,000 rupees to the deceased's father, Dashrath Rajwar, and assured him of further assistance under government provisions. Station in-charge Sonu Chaudhary and the police force played a key role in controlling the situation.

It is noteworthy that Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Dandila village, was returning home on his bike on Monday evening when a speeding pickup truck suddenly hit him near the Khadi Bhandar Chameli Bhavan in Jalpa. The impact was so severe that Mukesh fell to the road, seriously injured. Passersby immediately rushed him to the Hussainabad subdivisional hospital, but doctors declared him dead during treatment.

As soon as this news spread, the entire village was in an uproar. The cries of the family members in the hospital premises brought tears to everyone's eyes. The parents repeatedly fainted upon seeing their son's body.

Social worker and PACS president Krishna Baitha expressed deep grief, saying that Mukesh's untimely death was an irreparable loss not only for the family but for the entire village. He demanded the government provide adequate compensation and permanent assistance to the family.
