Three accused of ganja smuggling sentenced to 10 years imprisonment: Ranchi Regional Director

 

Ranchi: The court of Additional Judicial Commissioner Yogesh Kumar Singh on Monday convicted three accused Rajesh Kumar Singh, Raju Khan and Ranvijay Kumar alias Bijay Kumar Singh in the 2021 case of smuggling of 309 kg of ganja, and sentenced them to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment on the basis of prosecution witnesses before the court. Along with this, a fine of one lakh rupees each has also been imposed on all three. If the fine is not paid, all three accused will have to serve an additional one year of jail sentence.

   In the said case, on the basis of secret information, the NCB Ranchi team arrested two accused Rajesh Kumar Singh and Raju Khan, residents of Bihar, from a white colored Bolero car near Shakti Dhaba located at Ormanjhi Toll Plaza on 17 December 2021 and also recovered 309 kg of ganja from the car, the accused told during interrogation that ganja was being smuggled from Odisha to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. In the course of further investigation, the third accused, main receiver Ranvijay Kumar alias Bijay Kumar Singh was arrested from Bihar by the investigation officer.

  On this decision, Abhishek Anand, Regional Director, NCB Ranchi said that NCB Ranchi's special campaign "Ek Yudh Nasha Ke Viruddh" is going on against the drug dealers and NCB is always ready to punish them. This case was investigated by Rakesh Kumar Goswami and supervised by Shri S. Shariq Umar, Superintendent and Rana Pratap Yadav, Assistant Director.
