
Ranchi: Rajiv Jhawar, director of the chargesheeted accused company in the illegally allotted mine case to Usha Martin, has submitted his passport in the CBI court after returning to Ranchi after attending his daughter's wedding in France. The CBI court had granted him conditional permission to travel to France on 22 May 2025. He had sought permission to travel to France from 8 June to 30 June 2025. So that he could attend his daughter's wedding in France from 20 June to 23 June 2025. After returning from there, he appeared in person in the court and submitted his passport. Permission to go to France was granted on these conditions: (i) Rajiv Jhawar will have to submit a compensation bond of Rs 10 lakh, along with the original documents of his property of the equivalent amount and an undertaking that he will not misuse his passport. (ii) Before starting the journey, he will have to submit the airline ticket, visa, copy of boarding place, as well as the scheduled itinerary of coming and going, with full details, as per the conditions mentioned in the order of the Hon'ble Supreme Court. In addition, on completion of his journey, he will have to compulsorily appear in person in the court on the next date of return to India and submit his passport. After returning from abroad, he will have to appear in person before the court on every date till the charges are framed. (III) Rajiv Jhawar will be allowed to travel from June 8, 2025 and he will return to India on or before June 30, 2025. What is the matter:
In connection with the corruption case, the CBI had filed a chargesheet in January 2023 against six persons including M/s Usha Martin Limited, company director Rajiv Jhawar, assistant vice president SK Singh, mining director Indra Dev Paswan on 22 September 2016. Recently, the CBI court has taken cognizance in this case. Let us tell you here that in the year 2004-05, an iron ore mine was allotted in Ghatkuri in West Singhbhum district. Corruption allegedly took place in this. IAS Arun Kumar Singh was the secretary of the mining department at that time and Indradev Paswan was the mining director. The Delhi unit of the CBI had registered an FIR in September 2016 under alleged criminal conspiracy, fraud and Prevention of Corruption Act. Officials on behalf of the state government had allegedly shown bias in favor of Usha Martin.
