Subsidy given to Jharkhandi films has been stopped for the last eight years: Chamber

Ranchi: The meeting of the Film, Art and Culture Sub-Committee of Jharkhand Chamber was held in the Chamber Bhawan in which film producers and artists associated with the field of film art from all over the state participated in this meeting. They said that one prime time show every day in all the cinema halls of the state should be reserved for films in regional languages. It is very unfortunate that the film is being made but there is no cinema hall available to show it, the films of Jharkhand are not given any place in the cinema halls of Jharkhand. On the lines of other states, regional language films should also be shown every day in Jharkhand.

The subsidy given to films has been stopped for eight years, due to which the artists of Jharkhand are on the verge of unemployment, whereas this is included in the film policy of the government, despite this subsidy is not being given. Chamber President Paresh Gattani and General Secretary Aditya Malhotra jointly said that making a small film costs 40-50 lakhs and this should be given priority and regional language films should also be made tax free so that people here get encouragement which will also increase tourism here and the government will also get revenue.

There is not a single cinema hall in 24 districts of the state due to which films are not able to reach the audience. Filmmakers should be allowed to show their films in places like District Bhawan, Block Hall, Community Bhawan, Dhamkudia Bhawan etc. This will also increase the revenue of the government and along with this, the beneficial schemes of the government in every village should also be included in the middle of the film as a promotion.
