Ranchi, September 16, 2026: The Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2026 will be organised at Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi, from September 17 to October 2, 2026. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat.”
The campaign aims to take the concept of cleanliness beyond routine cleaning by promoting public participation and collective responsibility.
Under the campaign, identified Cleanliness Target Units and public places will undergo timely cleaning, improvement and beautification. Suitable areas around the airport will also be developed and maintained to create a cleaner and more attractive environment.
Students and young people will be encouraged to participate through Swachh Paathshala and Yuva for Swachhata initiatives. They will be provided exposure to waste management practices and encouraged to take part in awareness programmes and competitions related to cleanliness and water conservation.
Special attention will also be given to Safai Mitras and sanitation workers who play an important role in maintaining a clean environment. Preventive health check-ups, social security and welfare scheme linkages, as well as programmes to recognise their contribution, will be undertaken.
Public participation will be promoted through awareness about four-way waste segregation, Reduce-Reuse-Recycle (RRR) and plastic-free practices. Activities such as Sports for Swachhata, eco-friendly festivities and “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” will also be organised to promote cleanliness and environmental conservation.
On World Tourism Day, September 27, awareness activities will focus on connecting cleanliness with tourism. Special programmes will also be organised on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, to strengthen the collective commitment towards cleanliness.
The campaign will also promote the concept of Swachhata Se Samriddhi, under which waste will be viewed as a potential resource rather than simply garbage. Activities such as “Waste to Wealth,” “Kabaad Se Jugaad,” “Kabaad Se Kala” and Recyclers’ Meets will be encouraged.
The campaign emphasises that cleanliness is not the responsibility of the government or any single department alone. Active participation from every citizen is essential to encourage positive behavioural change and make cleanliness a continuous habit.
