Ranchi, September 11: Under the direction of Ranchi Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri, a key meeting was held on Friday to review preparations for Karma Festival 2026.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Dhananjay and Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kumar Rajat at the ADM (Law and Order) office in Collectorate Block-A.
Representatives of several prominent Sarna committees attended the meeting, including Central Sarna Committee President Ajay Tirkey, Tribal Coordination Committee Convener Laxmi Narayan Munda, Central Sarna Committee President Bablu Munda, Central Sarna Sangharsh Committee President Shiva Kachhap, Jaglal Hembrom, Jyotsna Karketta, and representatives of other major Sarna committees of Ranchi district.
Committees Put Forward Key Demands
During the meeting, representatives placed several demands before the administration to ensure that the Karma Festival is celebrated in an organized and grand manner.
Their demands included:
Proper cleanliness at Karma Puja venues
Strengthening of electricity arrangements
Increased police patrolling around Akharas
Adequate law-and-order arrangements
Implementation of a liquor ban during the festival
Provision of sarees and dhotis to devotees observing Karma rituals
The officials listened carefully to the concerns and demands raised by the representatives and assured them of necessary cooperation and coordination from the district administration.
The meeting emphasized close coordination among all stakeholders to ensure that Karma Festival 2026 is celebrated peacefully, safely and with full cultural dignity.
The administration said the meeting marks an important step towards ensuring smooth arrangements for the upcoming festival.
