Lohardaga, September 12, 2026: Lohardaga Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Sandeep Kumar Meena inspected various schemes being implemented by the Agriculture and Fisheries departments during his visit to Senha and Bhandra blocks on Saturday.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with beneficiary farmers and gathered feedback on crop production, market availability, income and departmental support. He encouraged farmers to adopt modern and scientific farming techniques to increase productivity and income.
In Chatakpur village under Todar Panchayat, Senha block, the Deputy Commissioner inspected farming activities undertaken by progressive farmer Ramjeet Mahto across around 6 acres. The farmer is cultivating tomato, brinjal, sugarcane, bottle gourd and beans with support from the Kisan Samriddhi and drip irrigation schemes.
At Budka village in Bhandra block, he inspected millet (ragi) seed production on around 4 acres by 12 farmers under the NFSNM-Nutri Cereals scheme. He also inaugurated a training programme and highlighted the nutritional importance of millets. Under the scheme, farmers are being provided financial assistance of Rs 3,000 per acre for ragi production.
The Deputy Commissioner also distributed solar pump sets to five beneficiary farmers under the PM Kisan Samriddhi scheme at the Bhandra Block Office. He said solar-powered irrigation would improve irrigation facilities while helping farmers reduce agricultural costs.
At Balsota village, he inspected farming on around 7 acres by farmer Ramdarshan Kumar under the PM-KUSUM and drip irrigation schemes. The farmer is cultivating cucumber, chilli, capsicum and beans.
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected a biofloc fish farming unit at Chatti village, where farmer Pahlwan Tiwari is cultivating Pangasius fish. He appreciated efforts to encourage other farmers to adopt biofloc technology and directed the District Fisheries Officer to provide farmers with necessary technical guidance and benefits under departmental schemes.
District Agriculture Officer Kalen Khalkho, the District Fisheries Officer, concerned BTM officials and other officials and staff were present during the inspection.
