Ranchi, September 12, 2026: A meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was held on Saturday under the chairmanship of Ranchi District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri.
The meeting, held at the Collectorate auditorium, was attended by Deputy Election Officer Vivek Kumar Suman and representatives of various recognized political parties.
The progress of the notice distribution and hearing phase under the SIR was reviewed. The Deputy Commissioner informed that hearings for voters who have received notices will be conducted up to October 14, 2026. He urged political party representatives to help ensure that voters receive timely information about the hearing dates and procedures.
He appealed to voters who have received SIR notices to appear at the designated place and time and submit the required documents to present their case. Necessary action will be taken by the concerned authority based on the documents submitted during the hearing.
The meeting also discussed cooperation with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) through BLAs-2. Political parties were requested to coordinate with BLOs regarding Form-6 and Form-8 applications, including new voter registration and correction-related matters.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Indian citizens who attain the age of 18 years on October 1, 2026, can apply for registration as new voters by filling Form-6. He urged political parties to create awareness among eligible youth and other citizens and support maximum mobilisation of Form-6 applications.
Political party representatives and BLAs-2 were also asked to coordinate with BLOs at polling stations where digitisation of Form-6 applications is relatively low, so that eligible citizens can be registered within the stipulated time.
The meeting emphasized that the objective of the Special Intensive Revision is to make the electoral roll error-free, updated and more reliable while ensuring that no eligible voter is left out. At the same time, the administration stressed that no ineligible person should be included in the electoral roll.
