Ranchi: A magnificent confluence of faith, reverence, and devotion was witnessed on Thursday at the historic Jagannathpur Rath Yatra festival in the capital, Ranchi. On this occasion, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren performed rituals and offered prayers to Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra, and sister Subhadra, praying for the happiness, peace, and prosperity of the state's residents.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the Rath Yatra by pulling the rope of Lord Jagannath's chariot in accordance with traditional customs. Chants of "Jai-Jai Jagannath" echoed throughout the fairgrounds, and thousands of devotees appeared immersed in the spirit of devotion. The Chief Minister also extended his heartfelt wishes to the people of the state on this auspicious occasion.
Grand Gateway to be Built for the Temple's Distinct Identity
Addressing the devotees, the Chief Minister made a significant announcement, stating that the state government would construct a grand ceremonial gateway on the road leading to the historic Jagannath Temple in Dhurwa. This initiative aims to make the temple visible from a distance and establish a new identity for it as a major center for religious tourism.
The Chief Minister remarked that the Jagannathpur Rath Yatra is a source of pride for Jharkhand's cultural and religious heritage. He added that in the coming years, the festival would be made even grander, better organized, and more attractive to ensure improved facilities for devotees visiting from across the country and abroad.
Ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), public representatives, and a large number of devotees were present on the occasion.
