Major Action by Lohardaga Police: Consignment of Spurious IMFL Seized, Two Smugglers Arrested
Illegal liquor cache intercepted during vehicle checks on the Kudu-Champi route; large quantities of liquor-manufacturing materials recovered.
Lohardaga. Lohardaga Police have achieved significant success in their crackdown on the illegal liquor trade. Acting on a tip-off received by the Superintendent of Police (SP), a police team conducted an operation on the Kudu-Champi route and seized two cargo tempos loaded with spurious Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). Two individuals were arrested during the operation.
Acting on the SP's instructions, a team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shraddha Kerketta conducted a vehicle inspection drive near Tiko More. During the drive, the team signaled two blue cargo tempos to stop, but the drivers abandoned the vehicles and attempted to flee. Police personnel chased them down and apprehended both individuals.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sudhir Kumar Sahu (21), a resident of Kamde (Ratu Police Station area, Ranchi), and Prakash Lohra (20), a resident of Vishramgarh (Kudu Police Station area, Lohardaga).
A search of the vehicles revealed large quantities of spurious IMFL and materials used for manufacturing liquor. The seized items included jars filled with spurious liquor, a spirit-like substance, machinery, a water pump, 'Royal Challenge' brand cartons, stickers, bottle caps, and barcode stickers.
The police have seized both tempos (bearing registration numbers JH01GR-0243 and JH08K-8731). A case has been registered at Kudu Police Station (Case No. 64/26) under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 47(A) of the Excise Act.
The raiding team included SDPO Shraddha Kerketta, Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Azad, Kudu Station House Officer (SHO) Ajit Kumar, and armed personnel from the Kudu Police Station.
