A Ray of Hope for an Orphaned Child: DLSA Ranchi Secures ₹5 Lakh Compensation and Residential School Admission
Ranchi: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ranchi, has set a remarkable example of humanity and justice. Paving the way for a secure future for a 7-year-old boy from Morhabadi—who had lost both his parents—the authority secured ₹5 lakh in compensation and facilitated his admission into a residential school.
The child's mother had passed away due to illness, while his father was murdered near the Morhabadi fish market on October 2, 2019. Left destitute, the child was living in dire circumstances.
Upon learning of the case, the DLSA Ranchi team took the initiative under the guidelines of JHALSA (Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority) and the supervision of judicial officers. With the assistance of the Lalpur police, the child was rescued from Gumla and brought to Ranchi.
In collaboration with the District Education Officer and the DCPU (District Child Protection Unit), the child was enrolled in the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential School, Ranchi, where he is currently studying in the third grade.
Under the Victim Compensation Scheme, ₹5 lakh was deposited into a bank account in the child's name. Of this amount, ₹1 lakh has been set aside for his immediate needs, while the remaining ₹4 lakh has been placed in a fixed deposit until he turns 18. The child dreams of becoming a police officer in the future and serving society.
DLSA Ranchi has appealed to the public to contact the District Legal Services Authority office or call the toll-free number 15100 for assistance regarding needy children or free legal aid.
DLSA Ranchi’s compassionate initiative has given an orphaned child a new life and allowed his dreams to take flight.
