Those who threw a petrol bomb at the RSS office have been arrested; the accused who escaped from custody was recaptured after being shot
Ranchi: Ranchi Police have ffbarrested three individuals for throwing a petrol bomb at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Jharkhand state office in Nivaranpur, Chutia. Given the gravity of the incident, the investigation has now been handed over to the Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
According to the police, the petrol bomb was hurled at the RSS office on the night of June 16. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed after the incident identified the accused using CCTV footage and technical evidence. During the investigation, Saif Ansari and Aman Ansari (alias Golu)—both residents of Lohardaga—were arrested near Gajhandi railway station in Koderma. They were attempting to flee the state.
During interrogation, both admitted to carrying out the attack alongside their associate, Sayam Sujan. Subsequently, the police arrested Sayam Sujan in Ranchi. Based on information provided by the accused, the clothes worn during the incident, a Santro car, and four mobile phones were recovered.
Police state that preliminary investigations have revealed facts suggesting a possible link to a larger network or module; hence, the case has been transferred to the ATS for further investigation.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the arrested accused Saif Ansari attempted to escape from the restroom at the Kotwali police station premises. He managed to flee after breaking the ventilation grille and glass. An alert was issued across the district immediately upon receiving this information.
Shortly thereafter, the police recaptured him during a vehicle check near Chama Mor in the Mandar police station area. According to the police, after being caught, the accused tried to escape again by snatching a weapon from a police officer. In response, the police opened fire in self-defense, shooting him in the leg. The injured accused has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Currently, all three accused are in police custody, and the ATS is investigating the entire matter.
