🔴 Murder of a Minor girl in Kanke: Three Accused, Including an Anganwadi Supervisor, Arrested
The police have cracked the sensational case involving the murder of a minor girl within the jurisdiction of the Kanke Police Station in Ranchi district. In connection with this incident, a case has been registered under various sections of the law vide Kanke Police Station Case No. 84/26, dated April 11, 2026.
According to the information received, Sushma Kumari—a female supervisor at an Anganwadi center—had brought the girl from the Budhmu area in 2022 under the pretext of providing her with care and sustenance. As time passed, disputes arose between the girl's family and the woman, stemming from financial and other reasons. During the investigation, it came to light that Sushma Kumari and her accomplices had held the girl captive within the house and subjected her to continuous inhumane treatment.
On the night of April 10–11, 2026, the accused—acting in a premeditated manner—brutally murdered the girl while subjecting her to severe mental and physical torture. Following the incident, the accused attempted to conceal evidence and portray the death as a natural one; they further tried to mislead the investigation by moving the body to various hospitals.
Based on technical evidence, CCTV footage, and other corroborating proofs, the police successfully solved the case and have taken into custody the three accused involved in the incident: Sushma Kumari, Pradeep Barla, and Santosh Kumar Das. Additionally, several items used in the murder—including scissors, pliers, a stick, a rope, adhesive tape, and a Maruti Swift Dzire car—along with several mobile phones, have been recovered.
A police team, led by the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP)—who also serves as the Station In-charge of Kanke—played a pivotal role in this operation. The police are currently continuing further legal proceedings in the matter.
