Jharkhand Chamber Welcomes Building Regularization Scheme, Raises Concerns Over Rising Taxes and Power Tariffs”

Ranchi, April 25, 2026 — The 8th Executive Committee meeting of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries was held today at the Chamber भवन under the अध्यक्षता of President Aditya Malhotra. During the meeting, members expressed gratitude to the state government for introducing the Building Regularization Scheme and welcomed it as a pro-public initiative.

President Aditya Malhotra stated that the Chamber will thoroughly study the scheme and ensure its wide promotion across the state so that maximum people can benefit from it. He termed the initiative as a positive and public-friendly step by the government and urged citizens to take full advantage of it.

The committee also expressed serious concern over the continuous increase in holding tax across various urban local bodies. Members pointed out that rising tax rates are increasing the cost of doing business, rent, and service charges, thereby negatively affecting economic activities, investment climate, and the purchasing power of the general public. General Secretary Rohit Agarwal assured that the matter would be taken up with concerned departmental authorities for a resolution.

Issues related to the unexpected hike in electricity tariffs by DVC were also raised. Regional Vice President Vinay Agarwal highlighted that industries in Bokaro Industrial Area are forced to spend ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 ежедневно on water procurement, raising serious concerns about their sustainability.

The committee appreciated the prompt action by the DGP in resolving a cybercrime case in Sahibganj, while also raising the issue of frequent power cuts in the Santhal Pargana region.

Concerns were also expressed over the order issued in the Jamshedpur Notified Area mandating submission of occupancy certificates for all buildings. Members stated that this has disrupted electricity and water supply in several completed buildings, preventing people from moving in.

During the meeting, it was informed that 143 sub-committee meetings have been conducted in the current session so far. The committee also decided to terminate the membership of 36 general members and 7 affiliated institutions for non-payment of membership fees for over three years.

Discussions were held on amendments to the Chamber’s constitution, and a 13-member Constitution Committee was formed for further study and action. New membership applications presented during the meeting were approved.

Members who contributed to the success of the India International Mega Trade Fair were felicitated. The meeting was attended by Chamber office bearers, executive members, and chairpersons of various sub-committees.
