Power engineers object to representation by Ashish Goyal, threaten agitation
New Delhi, February 16: The All India Power Engineers Federation has expressed opposition to the representation by Ashish Goyal in the working group formed to finalize the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025. Federation Chairman Shailendra Dubey stated that the group, formed on January 30, 2026, was directed to submit its report within just 14 days, which demonstrates haste. The organization alleges that the pro-privatization lobby, through the All India Discoms Association, was given space, while employees' and engineers' organizations were not included. The Federation stated that the government wants to quickly introduce the bill in Parliament, which millions of power employees across the country will not accept. If ignored, a nationwide agitation will occur.
