Ranchi: Acting on the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ranchi Police launched an anti-narcotics operation and destroyed a large-scale illegal opium cultivation in the Namkum police station area. The operation was carried out on Thursday by police officers and personnel in the remote forest areas of Namkum.
Based on a tip-off, a police team raided the forests of Lali, Heso, and Garudpihri villages, where illegal opium cultivation was found spread over approximately 5 acres of land. The police used tractors and grass-cutting machines to destroy the entire crop.
Following the operation, the police educated the local villagers about the harmful effects of opium cultivation and its social and environmental consequences. The police issued a stern warning that if anyone is found involved in this illegal trade, strict legal action will be taken against them under the NDPS Act.
