Strong Message Against Drug Abuse: DALSA Ranchi Organises Street Plays at Civil Court and Khadgarha Bus Stand

Ranchi, 07 January 2026:
(DALSA) intensified its public awareness campaign against drug abuse by organising street plays at the Civil Court, Ranchi campus and the Khadgarha Bus Stand. The programme was conducted under the ‘DON–2025’ scheme of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).

The programme was organised under the guidance of Chairman Sujit Narayan Prasad and under the leadership of District Judge, Ranchi, Anil Kumar Mishra–1. Under the ‘DON–2025’ scheme, continuous legal awareness programmes are being carried out across the district from 05 January to 12 January 2026, with the objective of protecting youth from drug addiction.

As part of the campaign, information about the harmful effects of drugs was disseminated through street plays in slum areas and rural regions. Community meetings were also held with parents and youth groups, during which information related to early prevention, counselling, and rehabilitation was shared. During the programme, the helpline number 15100 and available support mechanisms were also widely publicised.

DALSA Ranchi, with the support of Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs), conducted de-addiction campaigns in all blocks, panchayats, and remote areas of the district. Villagers were encouraged to stay away from drugs through discussions held in local languages such as Nagpuri and Khortha. NGOs, Anganwadi workers, and ASHA workers also extended active support to the campaign.

The street play team was led by director and actor Ashok Gop. The team included artists Himanshu, Rohit, Dharmendra Kashyap, Sumant, Varsha, and Sharmishtha, who delivered impactful performances to raise public awareness against drug abuse. PLV Prahlad Upadhyay also briefed people present at the Civil Court campus about the ‘DON–2025’ scheme.

The programme significantly enhanced public awareness regarding drug de-addiction. This information was shared by Rakesh Raushan, Secretary, DALSA Ranchi.
