Chamber Assures Intervention to Resolve Transport Nagar Operational Issues

Ranchi: On 08 December 2025, office-bearers of the Ranchi Goods Transport Association (RGTA) met Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce President Aditya Malhotra at the Chamber Bhawan to discuss the utility and operational requirements of the newly constructed Transport Nagar at Sukurhutu.

RGTA representatives stated that Transport Nagar Phase-1 has been completed, but the allocation process has not yet begun, delaying its use. They emphasized that once operational, the facility would significantly reduce heavy vehicle traffic congestion within the city. They also pointed out that there is no residential arrangement for labourers and workers engaged in the transport sector. In addition, office spaces essential for transport business operations, along with proper parking facilities, are needed.

The Association suggested that the under-construction Phase-2 should be developed entirely for Goods Transport Agency offices, while truck parking should be shifted to a separate designated area. This would allow warehouses to be used solely for loading and unloading activities. They also stressed the need for proper platforms and adequate road width. According to RGTA, Phase-1 is primarily meant for truck operators and parking only, not for goods transport agency offices. Therefore, they urged the department to consult transporters before moving ahead with Phase-2 planning.

Chamber President Aditya Malhotra said that the growing number of vehicles is worsening traffic congestion in Ranchi, making it crucial to operationalize Transport Nagar at the earliest. He acknowledged that transporters have several genuine concerns related to maintenance, operation, and policy, which should be addressed through departmental discussions. Assuring support, he said he would soon meet the departmental minister and secretary to hold talks. He also stressed the need for developing larger Transport Nagar projects in other major cities of the state.

Those present at the meeting included Chamber President Aditya Malhotra, Treasurer Anil Agarwal, Executive Member Mukesh Agarwal, RGTA President Prabhakar Singh, and former President-cum-Spokesperson Sunil Singh Chauhan.
