The programme was attended by Jharkhand Government’s Minister for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation, Shilpi Neha Tirkey, as the chief guest. The event was presided over by Bank of India’s General Manager (FGMO), Guru Prasad Gond. Their presence added significance to the programme.
At the event held at the community building near Mahdani Maidan in Bero, beneficiaries from various blocks were provided with 23 tricycles and 12 sewing machines. In the second phase of the programme, organised at the Mandar Block Office auditorium, 2 tricycles and 13 sewing machines were distributed.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey said such initiatives help bring positive change in the lives of persons with disabilities and those engaged in self-employment. She appreciated the social initiatives undertaken by Bank of India and said that participation of banks, along with government schemes, plays an important role in empowering society.
General Manager Guru Prasad Gond said that Bank of India is not limited to banking services alone but is also committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities. He added that tricycles would help beneficiaries with mobility, while sewing machines would enable women and other beneficiaries to become self-reliant through self-employment.
During the programme, beneficiaries also interacted with bank officials and were informed about various welfare-oriented schemes of the bank.
