Ranchi Administration Reviews Measures to Ease Traffic Pressure from Heavy Vehicles

Ranchi, December 17, 2025:
To address the issue of increasing traffic congestion in Ranchi city, a key meeting of the City Logistics Coordination Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate, Ranchi, Manjunath Bhajantri. The meeting focused on identifying effective and practical measures to reduce traffic pressure caused by the movement of heavy logistics vehicles within the city.

During the meeting, the JIIDCO team made a PPT presentation outlining a proposed action plan to ease traffic congestion. The presentation covered issues such as time regulation for logistics movement, identification of alternative routes, no-entry zones, last-mile delivery management, development of truck terminals and holding areas, and the adoption of smart traffic management systems.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri said that Ranchi is a rapidly developing city and strengthening traffic management is essential. He directed that the movement of logistics vehicles should be streamlined in a manner that minimizes inconvenience to the general public. He also instructed all concerned departments to prepare a concrete and coordinated action plan through mutual coordination.

It was also decided that specific time slots would be fixed for the entry of heavy vehicles into the city, restrictions would be imposed on the movement of large logistics vehicles during peak hours, and special traffic management plans would be implemented in sensitive and high-traffic areas. Emphasis was laid on adopting modern technology and data-driven traffic management systems.

The meeting, held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, was attended by Deputy Development Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania, Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan, Superintendent of Police (City) Paras Rana, Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Rakesh Singh, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Praveen Pushkar, Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Rajeshwernath Alok, Additional Collector Ram Narayan Singh, District Public Relations Officer Urvashi Pandey, JIIDCO Manager Sakib Ahmed, consultants Vikas Kumar and Aditi, along with other concerned officials.
