Trump Signals Possible Military Operation in Venezuela, 12 Warships and 15,000 Troops Deployed

Washington(H.S):

US President Donald Trump has indicated that he is close to deciding on a potential military operation against Venezuela. Under Pentagon’s Operation Southern Spear, the US has already deployed more than a dozen warships and nearly 15,000 troops in the region.

Briefing on Military Options

According to CNN, top military officials this week briefed Trump on possible military operations inside Venezuela. He is currently assessing the risks and potential advantages of a major campaign aimed at removing President Nicolás Maduro.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said he had almost made up his mind, although he declined to provide details of any upcoming action.

High-Level National Security Meetings

On Wednesday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Dan Cane presented military options to the President.
On Thursday, a larger national security team, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, met Trump in the Situation Room.

Both meetings reviewed target options, possible airstrikes, and plans that could directly remove Maduro from power.

Major US Military Build-up in the Region

The US has significantly expanded its military presence near Venezuela in recent weeks.
Key deployments include:

  • The world’s largest aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford
  • Nearly 15,000 US military personnel
  • More than a dozen warships
  • A cruiser, destroyers, an air and missile defense command ship, an amphibious assault ship, and an attack submarine
  • Ten F-35 fighter jets deployed in Puerto Rico

Eric Farnsworth, senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, described the build-up as one of the most significant preparations of this century.

Venezuela’s Response and Warning

Venezuela has also begun a large-scale military mobilization.
In a statement from Caracas, President Nicolás Maduro warned that any US intervention could trigger a situation similar to Gaza.

Expert Concerns

Security experts warn that any direct US military strike aimed at removing Maduro could lead to intense challenges, including urban combat, guerrilla resistance, and severe regional instability.
