SKMU’s 9th Convocation Ceremony Concludes, Governor Presents Medals and Degrees
A total of 78 students received gold medals, while 37 research scholars were awarded PhD degrees. In addition, the university conferred in-absentia degrees to 33,697 students who successfully completed various examinations, reflecting the academic reach and productivity of the institution.
Tripti Shobha Marandi Named Best Graduate
The title of Best Graduate was awarded to Tripti Shobha Marandi, a student of the Mathematics Department at St. Xavier’s College, Maharo (UG Session 2021–24). She secured the highest marks among all undergraduate students, earning the top honour.
Traditional Attire Adds Cultural Vibrance
The convocation witnessed a vibrant display of Indian culture, as students receiving degrees and medals appeared in traditional attire such as kurta-pajama, salwar-kurta, and saree. The cultural representation added grace and distinctiveness to the academic celebration.
Governor’s Address: “Convocation is Not an End, but a New Beginning”
In his address, Governor Gangwar congratulated the students and said:
- A convocation does not mark the end of education, but the beginning of a new phase of life.
- The degree in hand is not just a certificate, but a symbol of parents’ sacrifices and teachers’ dedicated guidance.
- Students must become an inspiration to society and contribute to the development of their culture, community, and state.
He also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to establish India as a developed nation by 2047, emphasizing the crucial role of the youth in achieving this national goal. The Governor encouraged students to pursue excellence in higher education, research, and innovation.
The event saw the participation of the university’s vice-chancellor, faculty members, officials, and a large number of students, making the ceremony successful and memorable.
