ITI Bus Stand in Darkness, High Mast Light Defunct for Years – Passengers Angry and Afraid
Ranchi: The city’s busiest ITI Bus Stand, where hundreds of vehicles arrive daily and movement continues till 10:30 PM, naturally requires proper safety and basic facilities. The Ranchi Municipal Corporation, which collects crores of rupees in revenue from this stand, is responsible for providing them.
However, the reality is completely opposite—no facilities, no safety, no lighting.
⚠️ High Mast Light Defunct for Years, Risk of Collapse
The tall high mast light installed inside the bus stand has been non-functional for years:
- No maintenance
- No repair
- Not removed
Locals say strong winds cause it to shake dangerously, and it may fall anytime. Passengers fear that this heavy structure could collapse on them or on vehicles standing below. The corporation has practically left it hanging like a sword over their heads.
🕳️ Darkness Increasing Security Threats
Due to the faulty high mast light, the entire area remains dark, leading to:
- Increased chances of crime
- Passengers feeling unsafe
- Higher risk of accidents
🏗️ Multi-Crore Water Tank Turns into a Den
The large water tank built in front of the bus stand has not even been inaugurated, and it has now become a spot for:
- Gamblers
- Alcoholics
💬Departmental Justification Worsening the Situation
Officials reportedly say: “It hasn’t fallen yet, so why would it fall now? A tender will be needed to repair it.”
This clearly means:
- No repair
- No action
- And the bus stand will continue to remain in darkness and danger
