Jharkhand Weather Alert: Cold Wave Likely in Eight Districts Till November 15

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for cold wave conditions in eight districts of Jharkhand till November 15. The department shared this update on Thursday, warning residents to brace for severe cold in several regions of the state.


Districts Under Cold Wave Alert

Cold wave conditions are expected in the following districts:

  • Palamu
  • Garhwa
  • Latehar
  • Chatra
  • Ranchi
  • Gumla
  • Lohardaga
  • Simdega

Most of these districts fall in the western and central parts of Jharkhand.


State Reels Under Intense Cold

Large parts of Jharkhand, including the capital Ranchi, have been experiencing severe cold. Due to the sharp drop in temperature, the number of vehicles on roads after evening has reduced significantly. Daily life has also been impacted as people remain indoors during early mornings and late evenings.

In the last 24 hours, the highest temperature in the state was recorded at 30.4°C in Chaibasa, while the lowest was recorded at 8.4°C in Khunti.

  • Max: 25.2°C
  • Min: 10.4°C

Jamshedpur:

  • Max: 29°C
  • Min: 12.6°C

Daltonganj:

  • Max: 28.8°C
  • Min: 10.1°C

Bokaro:

  • Max: 26.1°C
  • Min: 11.5°C

Chaibasa:

  • Max: 30.4°C
  • Min: 13°C

Weather Outlook

The IMD has advised people to take necessary precautions, especially during morning and evening hours when the cold wave is likely to be more intense. Clear skies were reported in Ranchi and surrounding areas on Thursday, though heavy chill was felt in the morning.
