West Singhbhum, November 13
The Excise Department carried out a major operation on Thursday morning and busted an illegal mini liquor manufacturing unit in Chadabasa village under Jhinkpani police station limits of West Singhbhum district. Acting on a secret tip-off, the team recovered hundreds of litres of illicit liquor, a large quantity of spirit, empty bottles, caps, wrappers and other packing materials. The illegal setup was destroyed on the spot.
How the operation unfolded
Chakradharpur Excise Superintendent Arvind Kumar said that at around 4 am, a team of the Excise Department reached Chadabasa village. After confirming ongoing illegal liquor production inside an old house in the rural area, the team initiated a raid.
Seizure details
During the search, the team found a fully operating mini liquor factory. Items recovered include:
101 cases of prepared illicit liquor
Around 500 litres of spirit
Thousands of empty bottles
Bottle caps, wrappers and packaging materials
Officials estimate the market value of the seized liquor to be between ₹20–22 lakh.
Investigation underway
According to officials, the factory had been supplying illegal liquor in the region for a long time. An investigation is underway to identify those who were operating the factory and to trace the network linked to nearby villages. Several suspicious items and documents were also recovered from the site.
