Giridih: Five cyber criminals arrested, linked to Jamtara network

The Cyber Police of Giridih district have arrested five cyber criminals, including two key operatives, during a swift and well-coordinated operation. The details were shared by SP Dr. Vimal Kumar during a press conference on Thursday.
Tip-off and raid
According to SP Kumar, the police received an alert via the Pratibimb portal reporting that several individuals were engaged in online fraud activities near the Baghra Railway Overbridge in Balidih under Gandey police station. Acting promptly on the tip-off, a special team was formed under the leadership of Cyber Police Station in-charge Sub-Inspector Rameshwar Bhagat.
The team conducted an immediate raid at the location and successfully apprehended five accused, including the mastermind, Aftab Ansari of Jamtara.
Arrested individuals
All individuals are residents of Jamtara and Deoghar, districts known for organized cyber fraud networks.
Modus operandi
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used fake links, fraudulent mobile apps, and impersonated bank officials to steal money from victims' accounts. They commonly targeted unsuspecting citizens through phishing messages.
Seized items
According to police, the gang maintained links with other cyber-fraud networks in Deoghar and Jamtara. The stolen money was first routed through fake bank accounts and then withdrawn in cash for distribution among gang members.

SP Dr. Vimal Kumar said Giridih Police is maintaining strict surveillance against cybercrime and continues to act under a zero-tolerance policy, ensuring swift action in all such cases.
